The Flaming Mug

An Airborne Rite of Passge

The Mug Legacy

The Flaming Mug was one of the memorable Fayetteville, North Carolina nightlife landmarks tied closely to the culture surrounding Fort Bragg.
More than simply a local bar, it became part of the off-post world inhabited by paratroopers, Special Forces soldiers, young enlisted troops, military spouses, musicians, and Fayetteville locals during the high-energy decades of the 1980s and 1990s. In the memory of many veterans, places like The Flaming Mug formed an informal social map of the old Bragg Boulevard era: loud music, crowded parking lots, payday weekends, chance reunions, and the blurred line between local nightlife and military culture.
